Gerlig Widmann, MD, PD, MSc, EBIR, FCIRSE is a radiologist who specializes in head and neck radiology, thoracic radiology, and interventional oncology.
Dr. Widmann graduated from the Medical University of Innsbruck and completed his radiology residency at the University Hospital Innsbruck. He holds certifications from both, the Austrian Society of Interventional Radiology and European Board of Interventional Radiology and is a fellow of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe. Dr. Widmann obtained his postdoctoral lecture qualification in radiology from the Medical University of Innsbruck and graduated from the University of Applied Health Sciences in Hall in Tirol. He currently holds the position as the managing senior physician and clinical risk manager of the Department of Radiology of the Medical University of Innsbruck. He is head of the section of computed tomography and chief of head & neck radiology, thoracic radiology, and oncologic radiology. Dr. Widmann is a board member of the Austrian Roentgen Society, chair of the radiology examination council, chair of the working group thoracic radiology, and past chair of the working group head and neck radiology. His scientific career started in the field of navigation and computer-aided implantology where he developed a technique to fabricate surgical guides using navigation systems. Dr. Widmann has published extensively and received several national awards including the Eduard-Wallnoefer-Award, the Scientific Award of the Austrian Society of Implantology, and the Dr.-Franz-Holeczke Preis. Dr. Widmann is an early active member and a past president of the International CAI Academy. His current research interests include deep learning texture analysis of lung pathology, imaging biomarker in oncology, low dose imaging, and stereotactic intervention. He lives in Innsbruck with his wife and two adolescent children. |
